A favorite summer culinary event is back for its 7th year at a beautiful new location. North East Community Center (NECC) will host this year’s Chef and Farmer Brunch on Sunday, July 30 at Silo Ridge Field Club in Amenia, New York. The 800 acre private community will open its doors to the public for the popular event celebrating local chefs and farmers.
The Chef and Farmer Brunch is the ultimate farm-to-table experience. We are delighted to have Dana Cowin, the chief creative officer of Chefs Club International and former Editor-in-Chief of Food & Wine magazine, serving as the honorary committee chair for this year’s event. Talented chefs from the Hudson Valley, as well as nearby Berkshires and Litchfield Hills, will use freshest seasonal ingredients donated by area farms to create unique, mouthwatering dishes. Guests will see chefs in action, and meet the farmers who are the backbone of the region’s booming local food scene.
The growing list of participating local restaurants, farms and distilleries include returning favorites and new additions:
Crown Maple Syrup
Darragh Studio Kombucha
Ever Ready Dining
The Farmers Wife
Farm Country Soup
From the Ground Brewery
Full Circus Farm
Harney & Sons Cafe
Lone Oak Farm Herberie
McEnroe’s Farm & Kitchen
NECC Summer Lunchbox Program
Old Crow Farm & Foraging
Quattro’s Poultry Farm
Rock Steady Farm
Sky Acres Farm
Sprout Creek Farm
A special honor, NECC’s Community Service Award, will be presented this year to the Harney family for their dedication to North East Community Center. The Harneys, whose businesses include the world-renowned Harney & Sons Tea, are important employers for the region, with over 200 employees, and their philanthropy supports not only NECC, but many nonprofit organizations in the area. Now the third generation of Harneys is joining the family business, continuing the tradition of supporting the community while running a thriving and growing company.
The Chef & Farmer Brunch raises funds for vital NECC programs including the Fresh Food Pantry, Summer Lunch Box which delivers free meals for children, teen Farm and Food education program, and the Millerton Farmers Market. Chartered sponsors for the 7th annual brunch are Sherrell Andrews and Rob Kuhbach, Grey House Publishing, Sharon Hospital, Indian Mountain School, Bank of Millbrook, Associated Lightning Rod, Jack’s Auto, and Stillman Travel.
Come eat, drink and mingle for a great cause! More than 250 people attended last year’s sold out event, so get your tickets early.
The North East Community Center (NECC) serves northeastern Dutchess County with a wide range of programs for children, teens, families and seniors.
